I am considering putting my name forward this fall as a candidate for School Trustee in Electoral Area 5 (Victoria) of the Greater Victoria School District. I am doing so because I care deeply about strong public schools, safe and supportive learning environments, and thoughtful, responsible decision-making for students, families, and educators.

Over the past number of months, I have been listening to residents across Victoria about what is working well in our schools, where families and staff need more support, and how the Greater Victoria School District can continue to build trust with the community. I would be grateful to hear from more people in Victoria — your ideas, concerns, feedback, and lived experiences all matter.

Victoria has been home for my family for 14 years. My wife is a teacher, and our two children love their time at school. Through my work as a director in the BC public service, my involvement as an active PAC member, and my experience in the private sector, I have learned the importance of collaboration, long-term planning, clear communication, and making complex decisions with care.

If I have the opportunity to serve, I would bring that experience to support SD61 with a focus on inclusive schools, transparent governance, and practical decisions that keep students at the centre.

School trustees have an important role to play in helping public education succeed. I believe that starts with listening, working respectfully with others, and staying focused on what students, families, educators, and communities need from their schools.
